Healing ... and our response!

During the time that Jesus spent on earth, He healed a lot of people, and he healed them mostly, because of their faith, and to glorify God.

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.  "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."  Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."  The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."  When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.  I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.  But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."  Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.  When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.  He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.  When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.

Then what about today? Does God still heal today?

I am sure God still heals today, but we cannot make a doctrine or magic spell out of it. Because it is not a spell, it is God that heals, and sometimes the healing is not what we want, and I do not understand that. If He heals one person, why will He not heal the next one? This a still a mystery for me. But as part of most healings there was a call to follow Him, to go and make your life right.

I believe anyone that is a child of God can pray for someone's healing, and there are some that have a gift of healing. And I believe that we need to look for the Kingdom of God, To listen and do what the Holy Spirit tells us to do. This is it, be obedient, if God does not tell you to pray, do not pray. If God tell you to pray, then pray. Do not do what you think is right. Do not have faith in the prayer, have faith in God.

I have been very "preachy" tonight, but this is what is on my mind. Someone asked me to pray for his son that is having a big operation, and I will pray. I pray for healing, for the guidance of the medical personnel and doctors, and for obedience, acceptance and a real relationship with Christ, without any distraction, without the side-shows of modern churches and denominations. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Healing Bible Verses

But always remember ... "Seek first the Kingdom of God!"

I need to add a footnote regarding doctors. God gave doctors the knowledge and technology to assist in the healing process, I mean, Matthew was a doctor, therefore we do not need to shy away from professional medical help, we need to look for it when we need it.

Every day you are beaten

I came across this post from Bryan Ward this morning: Every day you are beaten :  Beaten by the leaky sink you keep avoiding. Beaten by the applesauce on the wall you keep not scrubbing off. Beaten by the dent in the drywall you keep putting off fixing. You long to conquer mountains, yet every day you are beaten by molehills. All these little problems… they should be so easily solved. Yet they go on defeating you, day after day, until at last you conclude that you are not a capable man: If you are this easily defeated, “surely” you do not have what it takes to win the bigger fights: to become your fittest self, to create a business empire, to create works of art that will outlast you. Hell, you can’t even fix a leaky sink: might as well f*** off and go watch TV. But you’ve misdiagnosed the problem entirely. … One summer day when I went into the workshop, I saw that the plastic gas cans by the tractor were bulging like balloons. I had left the vents closed, and the hea...

The Journey of the Bonsai

At times I place posts from other people, posts that show that Taekwondo is not just about kicking and punching, but Taekwondo is about changing people, about changing lives.  Here is one such post, the life story of Debro van Wyngaard. She wrote this as part of her Black Belt assignment. She is practicing Taekwondo at  TTA Pretoria . Debro is married with two children (a boy of 11 years and a girl of 5 years).  For the past 17 years she has been working as a social worker, working with children in alternative care (specifically children in children’s homes).  She has been doing Taekwondo since 2009 and started to introduce Taekwondo to the children of Jakaranda Children’s home in June 2012.  The Journey of the Bonsai My journey as bonsai started in the wide expanse of rural South Africa, there where time seem to stand still and one's soul is set free. Never in my wildest dreams did I think, that I, a humble fig tree, w...

The heresy of worshiptainment | Mike Livingstone : "More recently, David Platt has asked: “What if we take away the cool music and the cushioned chairs? What if the screens are gone and the stage is no longer decorated? What if the air conditioning is off and the comforts are removed? Would His Word still be enough for his people to come together?” (Radical)"
